Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital & Clinics (SPMHC) and Unity Health Insurance are going head-to-head to determine who can shed the most pounds and receive the title of the Biggest Loser. The best part about the competition is that it not only benefits each organization’s employees but also charity.
The Biggest Loser challenge started with 138 employees voluntarily stepping up to the scale for the challenge’s initial weigh-in. For 16 weeks these motivated employees will defend their organization’s honor, while at the same time striving to attain a healthier weight. In the end, the business with the highest overall percentage of weight lost at the final weigh-in on May 2 will be named the Biggest Loser and will direct a $500 donation to the charity of its choosing.
“Our employees’ health and wellness is a very high priority for us,” said Larry Schroeder, SPMHC’s CEO. “We’re offering prizes to our participating employees, along with nutritional goal setting, and online tracking and resources. Our Employee Wellness Committee has done a great job of making this a fun and motivating program.”
Unity Health Insurance president & CEO Terry Bolz said, “Being a leader in health and wellness, we’re committed to the overall health and well-being of our employees. Our wellness committee has consistently created activities for our employees to lead a healthier lifestyle such as a stress reduction football team challenge and Eat Your ABCs fruit and vegetable challenge. We are excited to take on this next challenge and battle Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital & Clinics, a prominent employer in the Sauk Prairie community, for this title.”
Unity Health Plans Insurance Corporation provides community-based managed care products and services to over 90,000 members throughout 20 counties in south central and southwestern Wisconsin.
SPMHC is 36-bed not-for-profit hospital and four primary care clinics which provides care for more than 40,000 people throughout the area.
