H1N1 (Swine Flu) Vaccinations
Unity wants to make it as easy as possible for our members to get the H1N1 (swine flu) vaccine. Read below to learn more about who should get vaccinated for H1N1 and how you can get vaccinated.
How Can I Get Vaccinated?
- H1N1 vaccine is now available to the general public
- H1N1 is a covered benefit
- We recommend contacting your PCP to discuss your need for the vaccine
- The H1N1 vaccine can be administered in any clinic or in selected pharmacies. Due to variability in supplies we suggest that you contact your selected clinic or pharmacy beforehand to make sure supplies are available.
Use the Find a Pharmacy tool to locate pharmacies able to provide H1N1 vaccine to Unity members
- Unity will pay for the administration of this vaccine by both in-network and out-of-network providers
- If a Unity member pays for H1N1 administration, they should submit a claim to Unity.

Who Should Get Vaccinated for H1N1?
According to the CDC, the following people should receive the H1N1 vaccination:
- Pregnant women
- Household contacts and caregivers for children younger than 6 months of age
- Healthcare and emergency medical services personnel
- All people from 6 months through 24 years of age
- Persons aged 25 through 64 years who have health conditions associated with higher risk of medical complications from influenza.
